For the second consecutive year, the robotics team from Ideaventions Academy for Mathematics and Science has earned the opportunity to compete in the prestigious Bell Advanced Vertical Robotics national championships. Their remarkable skills and dedication have propelled them to this highly anticipated event.

With their exceptional performance at the regionals, held in Arlington, Texas, the team, known as Daedalus, clinched first place Overall and also won in the categories of 'Best Overall Design' and 'Best Presentation and Communication.' These achievements reflect their innovative engineering solution for this year's robotics competition.

Team lead Arya Lohia, a senior at Ideaventions Academy, expressed their excitement and shared, 'Our team had the chance to apply professional engineering skills and techniques. Our experience with operating systems, 3D printing, and laser cutting elevated our performance to the next level.'

Challenging the Competition with Unique Engineering Solutions

Discover the innovative engineering solution developed by Ideaventions Academy's robotics team for this year's competition.

This year's challenge for the robotics teams was to simulate a helicopter dropping water onto a building fire. The Daedalus team tackled this challenge by constructing two large drones equipped with thermal and visual sensing capabilities. These drones were designed to autonomously navigate through the course and drop water, represented by 25mm plastic balls.

In addition to the large drones, three smaller manually controlled drones were deployed to complete additional tasks. The team's unique engineering solution showcased their expertise in areas such as operating systems, 3D printing, and laser cutting.

Coach Arlan Stehney emphasized the importance of teamwork, stating, 'Even if we didn't win, our success lies in how well we worked together.' The collaboration and utilization of professional engineering skills have undoubtedly set the Daedalus team apart.

Supportive Sponsors and Community Involvement

Explore the valuable support provided by sponsors and the local community to Ideaventions Academy's robotics team.

Team Daedalus received tremendous support from various sponsors throughout their journey. Unanet served as a Diamond-level sponsor, while DEV Technology, Arjun Malavia, and Reliance Electronics Inc. contributed as Gold-level sponsors. FPT Software, Manu & Prabha Malavia, 3G Federal Solutions LLC, and The Transport Group acted as Silver-level sponsors.

The involvement of these sponsors highlights the significance of community support in fostering the growth and success of young talents in the field of robotics. It is through these partnerships that students like those at Ideaventions Academy can thrive and excel in national competitions.
